Beinn Heasgarnich

Life is busy right now - has been for the last couple of years. I think that is just what happens as you get older, more stuff starts demanding your attention. The hillwalking has taken a bit of a back seat recently, but I managed to get a Saturday off for a hillwalk. Need to go for nearby hills these days (so I can get back quicker), so we went for Beinn Heasgarnich, one of the closer hills to the central belt that we haven't walked. The hills around here get a bit of flak from the hillwalking guide books for not being interesting enough, I think they're great - they're big hills, you spend a while making your way up, then things level out, but you're only on the plateau half-way up!

We parked at the car park at the end of the road, just before it becomes a private road, then had a few km walk in along the road to get to the start of the hill. As usual, we headed fairly straight up in a north-west direction to hit the small top just south of Beinn Heasgarnich itself, and then on to the summit itself. Despite me looking not particularly impressed in the photo, and despite the grey weather, it was a good walk - given the number of opportunities I have to go walking these days, it is a nice break from doing stuff at home or at work. Heading down was much the same, although we bypassed the smaller top and headed pretty much straight down. After that, it was a long walk back to the car (the walk back seemed a lot further than the walk in).
